With a big smile and an embrace that is akin to a giant bear hug squeezing out the very air that I breathe, I was overjoyed to see my friend, confidant and partner of the Palace back from India after six weeks away on an intense and hugely important buying trip for our business.
It’s not that I really had a chance to miss Tanya. We talked every day – keeping in mind the 9.5 hour time difference – which meant a morning WhatsApp call for me over my cup of chai was her deliriously exhausted end of day. Not that I didn’t have my share of wake up calls from her at 3 and 4am in the morning! But some decisions needed to be made in the moment. Thank goodness for technology – and caffeine – between face time and incessant texting, I felt like I was in the markets with Tanya making fabric and design decisions on the fly.
And what a trip it was. We were both a little anxious about not being able to travel together this time around, but living vicariously through Tanya, made me realize how truly lucky I am to have such a passionate partner, whose razor-sharp focus and dedication to the success and prosperity of Turquoise Palace helped her “keep calm and carry on,” despite so many roadblocks along the way (more on that in the next blog from Tanya).
The best part? Now we get to ohhhhh and awwww together over the new collections, the treasures that we can’t wait to unveil to the world in weeks to come. As we unpack boxes that have come by air and anxiously wait for the container coming by sea, the preparation for the big reveal is in the works and we promise you won’t be disappointed.
